The Immigration Assistant Course provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills to work in law firms, nonprofits, or government agencies that support clients with immigration matters. Students will learn the basics of U.S. immigration law, common forms and procedures, client intake and file management, and the ethical boundaries of non-attorney practice.

Introduction to U.S. immigration system and agencies (USCIS, ICE, EOIR, DOS).
Common visa categories, green card processes, and naturalization pathways.
Immigration forms (I-130, I-485, N-400, I-765, etc.).
Supporting attorneys with client intake, documentation, and case tracking.
Cultural sensitivity and working with multilingual/multicultural clients.
Ethics: understanding what assistants can and cannot do (avoiding unauthorized practice of law).
